This 236-hectare farm lies within easy travelling distance from Worcester and Villiersdorp. The property enjoys picturesque views over rolling hills and has a dry river reverts through it. The area is an established commercial farming operations area producing quality grapes and deciduous fruit.
This table grape export farm is a recently developed economical viable unit with good infrastructure under proper management together with the potential to expand.
The existing total table grape harvest has the potential to produce much more than the latest produced 62,840 cartons per season. About 2,7-hectare newly planted are not yet in production which will ensure at least 75,000 cartons per season. The property is Global Gap certified.
Established to 15.9 hectare of table grapes, the breakdown is as follows: 9.8-hectare Crimson Seedless (2015 and 2016) as well as 3.2-hectare Sweet Joy (2016) and 2,9-hectare newly planted Sweet Celebration, a brilliant mid to late season variety. The total table grape plantings are trellised vines under drip irrigation. Another block of 10 ha had been planted previously with wine vines, but it has been uprooted with no vines at present, it is already ripped and ideally suited for future table grape plantings. The mother lines are still in place.
The new orchards have modern popular cultivars and once in full production, it will make a significant contribution to the turnover.
About 27.5-hectare is planted with Colombar (7.93 ha); Chenin Blanc (13.14 ha); Shiraz (1.67 ha) and Ruby Cabernet (1.18 ha) Pinotage (2.95 ha) Sauvignon Blanc (.64). All plantings are under drip or micro irrigation. Production is excellent.
The remaining area allows for the mountainous area with secluded valleys, dry riverbank, buildings, roads and 2 storage dams (storage capacity of 20,000 and 8,000 cub metre). Irrigation water is obtained from the existing lawful water use with a capacity of 437,668 cub metre per annum (33,7 hectare) from the Breede-Gouritz (Bossiepoort / Kwaggas) Water Scheme as well as winter water from the river flooding from higher up in the mountain from which the property is entitled to 37.75ha of water rights. The 2 boreholes with a capacity of 45,000 l /hour are an additional asset. There are 4 irrigation pump stations. Eskom is the electricity supplier.
There are also 1,8-hectare peaches and 1-hectare lucerne.
